Ready for the finishing touch – local students

The Country Universities Centre (CUC) Macleay Valley is opening its doors to students on Thursday 18th March 2021.
CUC Macleay Valley Chair, Liz Campbell, said the dedicated learning space will offers everything from access to reliable super-fast internet, state-of-the-art technology, generic academic support as well as a focus on student’s health and wellbeing.
“The new Centre is a fantastic space, it feels special to be in and is conducive for study. The finishing touch will be all the students filling the Centre,” said Liz Campbell, CUC Macleay Valley Chair.
“The CUC Macleay Valley will provide students with the opportunity to connect with likeminded people, create a learning network, and study in a brand-new study hub,” Mrs Campbell said.
The CUC Macleay Valley is free for students studying at any higher education institution in Australia. From Diploma to PhD, for students who have part or full-time study loads.
The CUC’s Centre Manager, Kinne Ring, said she is excited that the CUC is finally open for students the Macleay Valley community.
“Students in the Macleay Valley will benefit enormously from the Centre”, Ms Ring said. “Over the first few days we have over 25 students in for orientation”.
One of those students is Annabelle who is studying a Master of Communications externally through Charles Sturt University.
“I’m really looking forward to utilising the centre to complete my studies and taking part in the student support workshops to assist me with academic writing,” Annabelle said.
“I truly believe the Centre is going to change lives and I cannot wait to hear and see stories of other local students excelling in their chosen field because the Centre”.
Locally based company, Lahey Constructions project managed the fit-out work to the Kempsey Central Retail Centre.
These works included the conversion of a vacant retail premises into a new, vibrant and functional space, suitable for use as the Macleay Valley’s Country Universities Centre.
“Lahey are very proud to have been part of this project, we wish the CUC every success for the future.”, said Project Manager Ben Lee.
